BREAKING NEWS: MCM BREAKS i09!
In a twist that had all our knickers twisted, ChaoteR (as they say in my country) 8 was split half way due to some kind of i09/pox/MCM malfunction. What is going to happen next?!

We’re waiting for permission on behalf of i09 to fix things, as they requested MCM stick to only one post per day. But it seems he’s hit the word limit target, so we’re all on tenterhooks to figure out a solution.

Back to the scheduled news, I thought I’d give y’all some background updates: I am still sick. /update.

Haha. No, really. We’ve been chatting about Calvin and Hobbes, and the merits of Neanderthals, and slavery, and slaves… but not about chocolate, which makes me a little sad.

In any case. TEH OUTLINE OF PART 1:

Jyi enters the interrogation room, starts questioning the Zanzi pusher. Darvey kept out of the room, stuck behind the screen with Lucas and Aphid. Learns about law enforcement rules, how amplification is strictly against the rules during interrogation, how Centaurians are generally barred from this kind of work.
Suspect is dodging questions with expert precision, Jyi isn’t getting anywhere. He feeds her a bone and she heads out to talk to the others, checking their intel to see if he’s telling the truth. Darvey lets himself into the room, blocks the door, and starts into his Bad Cop routine.

Anyway. The story so far, in one sentence: Dravey is a suicidal cop whose met hard times, gets drafted into a space mission he is impossibly unqualified for, and manages to survive through sheer dumb luck and pure hard-headedness.

I think that’s a pretty good summary. But then I thought I’d take it one step further and ask for twitter summaries. Sadly only @nlcobb replied, but with the rather concise answer “insanity.” I think she has a point there.

AND NOW, while we wait for the second half of the chapter… it’s time for something a little cultural, Rok has been telling us about his alien species. Here’s a photo:

Apparently it is the males who conceive, and – even more fascinating – males seem to undergo a number of superfluous biological changes during pregnancy. Below is a photo of a 2.5 year pregnant Rok (gestation period is roughly 10 years Earth time).

Notice the biological differences, from growing facial hair, to developing less-pointed ear lobes? Alien culture is absurdly fascinating, I’m sure you can agree.

Anyway now that we have a new page everything has been sorted out and is continuing as planned.

Here’s the rest of the outline for Chapter 8:

Says he’s going to use {Rok: his (Darvey\\\\\\\’s) [COLOR FOR A PIECE OF CLOTHING] left sock to perform} [TERRIBLE TORTURE]. Zanzi doesn’t believe him, gets pushed further, starts to worry. Thinks Darvey is using amplification on him, says it’s illegal. Darvey says “that’s why I blocked the door.” Zanzi is having a breakdown all on his own.
Darvey discusses how he’ll mangle [PART OF ALIEN ANATOMY], Zanzi ready to run, but he can’t. Begs for lawyer, and Darvey says lawyer has no jurisdiction given the Governor’s daughter’s kidnapping. Zanzi claims ignorance, offers him anything else to get free. Darvey asks what he has, given info about a shipment arriving in [NAME OF SPACEPORT] in a few hours. Darvey makes one last crack about the anatomy, leaves the room.
Lucas extremely unhappy, Jyi roughs Darvey up for crossing lines. His info isn’t admissible because of threat of danger. Darvey says otherwise: he wasn’t threatening to get that intel, he was asking about the kidnapping and Zanzi offered the spaceport on his own.
Aphid breaks in, says if they can get a beacon on the ship at the spaceport, they can trace it all the way back to the Tobor home base. Jyi agrees, but still furious.

I love how the random questions/answers all kind of seem to go together so well. I mean, imagine if the kind of torture picked had been slicing. Slicing with a red sock? Wouldn’t make half as much sense.

None of my answers have been picked yet, but MCM told me that people using the console have been submitting multiple answers per question, whereas I have only been submitting one, so… Perhaps I shall have to hack the system somehow.
