Chapter 47

(Anna) 6.03pm Chapter 47 is up and it’s nearly dinnertime…
Jan headed off to the shops to stock up on supplies (by simply throwing jeans over her pjs, as I suggested). I wish she could email me chocolate. Mmmmm….chocolate. (A post from me would never be complete without a reference to chocolate, or a parenthetical aside, or both (like this one)).

Anyway, so she headed off to the shops, and was back in a ridiculously short amount of time. In her own words:

Jan: I think the World Record for most frantic panicked runs to nightshops is now in my name, and I wasn’t even running for emergency condoms, which must mean #3D1D is better than sex.

Back on topic… Can you feel it? We’re nearly there. This is awesome. MCM is my new god. All those NaNo writers, whom I once so admired? Psshhhhh…. that’s nothing! Although MCM does say that he’s beginning to feel quite tired (he’s been up since 2am his time, with one nap!) and it’ll be dinner time for him soon….

Anyway, live blogging along has been really rewarding and made me feel part of it all. My brother has complained that I am now attached to my computer (my response: it’s only been 3 days!) and that I’ve been snippy with him (stop distracting me then!). It’s been very emotionally involving. I feel like Typhoon is my adoptive baby, and I don’t even want to be a mother!

On to the chapter itself. The notes:

48. Early Demise
Redux is okay. It was the SEF pilot that got hit. The
freighters are gone, though. Only one got into the
atmosphere. The big issue is that Chenne said Redux’s real
name. Nobody speaks. Everyone goes home, stunned
(Tundra leaves with Rook).

I’m sure you all feel as relieved as me! But at the same time, what’s going to happen to him now that people know his name? Is he going to be arrested? Killed? Questions, questions. And did anyone else see that Rook and Tundra left together? I sense a face-to-face meeting….

By the way, the questions were:

Long or short.
Now or Later.
Truth or consequences.

And the answers picked were: short by [me], Now!! by Jan, and Truth. by @mjgolli. And maybe I’m silly but I don’t see how they fit. :S

Speaking of questions and answers, did anyone else have a giggle over Chapter 28′s question: “Who didn’t come?” Maybe it’s just my overtiredness getting the best of me….

Finally, the winner of this chapter’s word count guessing round is @miladysa, off by 170! The guesses were:

@mjgolli -1105
[Me] – 910
@Charnanigans – 997
@Miladysa- 357

Over to Jan.

(Jan) 6.14 The usual dinner time for MCM :D

I felt so relieved that Yuri survived, but now I’m worried for Yuri’s identity being in the open. Because we don’t know what this means. I think the problem with the story is that it isn’t clear who are the illegal ones, and who isn’t // DAMN 48 IS HERE SO I’M OUT!!!

(Anna) 6.24 I am briefly interrupted Jan to bring you…
A graph, what else?

Total word count up to chapter 47

Back to you Jan.

(Jan Obviously) 6.29 MCM just threw a very confusing chapter at us, and I must confess, the pace he’s throwing all these chapters at us is killing my coherent thinking. I go from very high exitement, to total panick, to mindblowing confusion and back again so fast my head is spinning. All the smackleheads aren’t helping either.

So to get back on my thinking track:

I felt so relieved that Yuri survived, but now I’m worried for Yuri’s identity being in the open. Because we don’t know what this means. I think the problem with the story is that it isn’t clear who are the illegal ones, and who isn’t corrupt and who is, and if the illegal ones are bad or good. As far as I understand, based on info in the book, the Bonn Convention and a little behind the scenes explanations from MCM, pirates = dustrunners = protectors of freighters returning to earth. They have to protect them from SEF, which is the UN army, who are trying to steal the freighters. Question is, are the SEF the bad guys? That would mean the UN is bad, which means I am bad, because I’m the UN Secretary General. Because we are OBVIOUSLY routing for Yuri and co, the SEF must be the bad guys, so they are corrupt. Now, they are the UN, they have all the power, so why do they have to steal? Can’t they simply make laws that gives them all the mined stuff? Why is the UN breaking it’s own law?

And when are we going to see MCM mooning, I mean hear Rache explain what moonshining is?
