Writers

Here’s the style guide for the 3 day coverage on The Dispatch:

  • Time stamps are not included in the post-meta by default, and have to be included manually at the very front of post content. All times must be in UTC/GMT -7, which is Canadian (Vancouver) time, because that’s where MCM is writing from.
  • Reverse chronological posts, chronological updates. Posts in this blog would be in reverse chronological order, but would each contain a few updates, say: one update at 8.45 am, and another at 9.30 am, and so on so forth, in chronological order. Whether to update in a new post, or to add the update to an existing post is a judgment call for the writer to make. As a rule of thumb, use whatever you think is more readable, or separate updates according to subject matter (e.g.: an update on the structure of the novel so far shouldn’t be in the same post as updates on MCM’s hour-to-hour activities).
  • Comments must be replied to as soon as possible.
  • Twitter updates will be blockquoted when used within a post.
  • Images (say, of MCM going crazy in the 71st writer) should be 500 pixels wide for optimal display.
